Anne Branigin Vandeveer
Owner / President
Anne is the President of ABV Advisors. She is an accomplished employee benefits consultant specializing in employee benefit plan compliance and related issues.
She founded the company over seventeen years ago following a decade of work with several national benefit consulting and accounting firms including Mercer, Coopers & Lybrand and BKD. She specializes in both welfare benefit plan Form 5500 compliance & defined contribution plan consulting. Anne has also provided extensive consulting on DOL & qualified plan audits, defined contribution recordkeeping platforms and general Form 5500 compliance.
She now serves many insurance brokerage firms across the country from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest. Her firm has a longstanding partnership with the Indianapolis-based law firm, Krieg Devault, LLP, for the most technical issues and peer review related to governmental reporting, nondiscrimination testing and related compliance. As a matter of course, she often works closely with independent accounting firms for ERISA tax and financial issues.
Anne is a graduate of Purdue University, with a BS in Mathematics. She, her husband, David, and their two children reside in Carmel Indiana, balancing the very active schedules of her children’s academic and athletic activities.
Natalie is an accomplished accountant and employee benefits consultant specializing in Form 5500 preparation. Her sharp attention to detail and strong problem-solving talents serve her well as a leader in the preparation services group.
Prior to joining ABV, her career focus was on tax & accounting and specialized in tax return preparation and advising clients on issues related to personal tax liability at H&R Block. She is a proud alumnus of The Ohio State University, where she majored in Business Accounting.
Natalie has 3 young children and is very active in their academic and athletic activities. Personally, Natalie is an avid tennis player and an exercise enthusiast.
Eden’s professional experience started with state and federal tax compliance. At ABV, she works under the direction of Natalie Kent, she specializes in Form 5500 preparation. Like most math majors, she loves numbers, has a high attention to detail and enjoys the problem-solving aspects of her work.
Prior to joining ABV, she was a tax compliance analyst and prepared calculation and validation of state taxes for corporations across the country. At ABV she invests all of her time learning and mastering ERISA compliance requirements. She is a proud alumnus of Earlham College, where she majored in Mathematics.
Eden has progressive music interests, enjoys comedy clubs and is an emerging foodie. She also is an avid yoga and an exercise enthusiast and is in training to lead yoga classes.
Andrea has deep domain expertise in employee benefits, especially in ERISA compliance related to plan documentation. At ABV, she is a senior member of the plan documentation services practice.
Her early career experiences included working at large, national consulting firms (including Aon) where she had responsibility for insurance coverage marketing. While in these roles, she developed the critical thinking, organizational and independent work skills necessary to interact with clients in understanding their plan particulars and then configuring a specific document need to ensure perfect compliance.
Andrea is a proud alumnus of Indiana State University’s Scott College of Business Insurance and Risk Management, specializing in Life & Health Insurance.
Andrea has three young daughters and is very active in their academic and athletic activities. Personally, Andrea and her husband embrace a life of fitness to keep up with their active life.
Lisa’s professional experience began in the healthcare space with Cardinal Health where she worked with clients on data analytics, reporting and contract management. She specializes now in project fulfillment with our 5500 services, preparing SAR’s and related system confirmations for brokers and clients.
Lisa is a proud alumnus of Ohio University where she met her husband. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two, young children and working out to stay fit.
David Vandeveer, CEBS
Owner / Senior Advisor
David is a Managing Director of ABV Retirement & Welfare Plan Advisors, Inc., leading marketing, sales and business operations.
Drawing on over 30 years of employee benefits consulting, he has deep domain expertise in all aspects of human resource programs and supporting technology. This expertise drives his vision to ensure that all of ABV’s services are delivered with the highest level of personal consulting to supplement the most basic compliance services.
While overseeing the company’s growth and operational needs, David has continued his career outside the organization. He brings expertise from his experiences working in the health plan consulting, retirement plan advisory and the HR technology space, namely with Aon, ADP, Mercer and Transamerica. In these firms, David consulted with large plan sponsors to better manage benefit spend, to configure plan designs that meet a variety of employee populations and to leverage enabling SAAS benefits technology. His work has always centered on ensuring a positive impact on business performance and financial results.
David is a graduate of Indiana University, with a BS in Public Finance. He and his wife Anne, and their two children reside in Carmel Indiana, where he serves on the board for Habitat for Humanity when he’s not out cycling across Indiana’s crossroads.
Fred ("Fritz") Hewelt, III, CEBS
Senior Advisor / Alliance Partner
Fritz is a senior advisor to ABV with over 30 years experience with a multitude of employee benefit consulting knowledge but who specializes in H&W plan nondiscrimination, namely Section 105(h) testing.
He began his career at Mercer in Chicago and after a move to Minneapolis with Towers Watson to lead their H&W Practice, he gained most of his compliance experience while serving as a leader at Aon Hewitt’s National Tax & ERISA Practice and serving on their Benefits Standards & Compliance Committee. Fritz is a regular speaker at national seminars for professional organizations on the subject of H&W statutory compliance.
Fritz is a graduate of Elmhurst College and holds several professional designations including his CLU, FLMI and CEBS. In his free time, he enjoys time with his grown children and their children, winter sports, wine and driving his sports cars.
Senior Technology Architect / Alliance Partner
Brett is a senior technology advisor to ABV on matters related to automation in compliance services process and related security. He has over 20 years in enterprise IT solutions and most recently developed a proprietary software system for compliance with the Affordable Care Act’s 1095-C filing and tracking requirements.
His career started at Manhattan Associates, a supply chain software development firm, named a Gartner “best-of-breed” SC software leader. He later founded Brevadum in 2003, a firm specializing in implementation of supply chain technology solutions to firms including Nordstrom, American Eagle, PPG and Giant Eagle.
Brett is a graduate of Purdue University with a BS in computer and electrical engineering. He subsequently earned his Executive MBA from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management.
